Safe Granite & Stone Cleaner
Clean granite, marble, and natural stone safely without damaging the surface. pH-neutral and streak-free.
Ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon Liquid castile soap (Very small amount)
- 1/4 cup Rubbing alcohol
- 2 cups Water
- 5 drops Essential oil (Optional, mild scent only)
Why This Recipe Works
The key to cleaning natural stone is avoiding acids (no vinegar!) and abrasives. Castile soap is pH-neutral and gentle enough for stone. The rubbing alcohol helps the cleaner evaporate quickly without leaving water marks, which is crucial for maintaining the polished look of stone surfaces.
Instructions
-
Mix ingredients: Combine water, rubbing alcohol, and castile soap in a spray bottle. Add essential oil if using.
-
Shake gently: Mix without creating too many suds.
-
Spray and wipe: Spray onto the stone surface and wipe with a soft microfiber cloth.
-
Buff dry: For best shine, follow with a dry microfiber cloth to buff the surface.
Tips & Variations
- Daily cleaning: Use this as your daily countertop cleaner on stone surfaces.
- For dried spills: Let the spray sit for a few minutes before wiping.
- Avoid buildup: Don’t use too much soap - it can leave a film over time.
- Reseal annually: Remember to reseal natural stone yearly for best protection.
Safety Notes
- Never use vinegar or lemon: Acids etch stone surfaces permanently.
- No abrasive pads: Use only soft cloths to avoid scratching.
- Blot spills quickly: Stone can stain if liquids sit too long.
- Test new products: Even safe products should be tested on an inconspicuous area first.
